Festivals

Levi Tafari has graced a variety of festival stages with his Dub Poetry performance style. Whether performing solo, with percussionists a eight piece band or orchestra. Levi has performed at Music Festivals, Literature Festivals, Art Festivals Theatrical Festivals and Cultural Festivals nationally and internationally, including the following:

Since the early 1980's Levi Tafari has continued to carry out creative writing workshops in schools, colleges and universities. Providing poetry and creative writing workshops, Levi has continued to inspire students in the UK and across the globe with his poetic performance style. Levi engages the students in his workshops through performance, poetic and word games and writing exercises that stimulates and inspires the students to create their own piece of writing.

Using the "Five I's" of Inspiration, Ideas, Imagination, Information and Imagery. "The five I's" serve as a platform from which the students can start to construct their creative expression. The workshops are inter-active and engages all the students whether individually or in groups putting the students at ease creating an atmosphere for creative writing. The workshops adapt to any theme whether it's environmental issues, social and cultural projects, historical topics or diversity in education.

Levi's work in education is suited to a full day, a half day, a week or longer residencies in schools and colleges. Levi also collaborates with artists from other art forms to facilitate school art week and large projects. Levi is currently writer in residence at University Liverpool Management School.

TV/Film Work

Throughout his career Levi has appeared on television in an eclectic mix of programmes such as documentaries performing his poetry on programmes like BBC's "Panorama", "Race Apart" and CH4 "Cities Fit to Live In." presented by Glenda Jackson. Levi appeared in BBC's "Grange Hill" in a cameo role as himself.

Levi has appeared on the national treasure the is "Blue Peter" also music programmes like CH4 "Parallel 9" and variety shows like "Packet of Three" and "Black on Black." Levi has also appeared on TV programmes on his travels in the USA, Europe, China and Singapore
